Is Your Lake Home Missing this Key Feature?
These days, more and more people work from home. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 24% of employed people in the US work from home (at least part of the time) and up to 42% of workers with advanced degrees also telecommute. It goes without saying that the need for a home office in a primary or lake home is on the rise.
According to a recent article in The New York Times, home offices are frequently requested by buyers. “The importance of home offices has almost begun to rival the attention that buyers give to kitchens,” says Robin Kencel, an associate broker with Compass in Greenwich, Conn. (I’m not sure I agree that buyers are more concerned about a home office than the kitchen, but I digress…)
Not only is a home office a key feature in your primary home, but you should consider designating space for an office in your vacation home or lake house.
The flexibility of working from home means more time spent in the Pocono Mountains or at Lake Wallenpaupack. With the ability to work
from anywhere, why not rack up some lake moments too? Working from your lakefront home (with a view) is certainly an appealing work environment!
When planning to sell your home, it might be a good idea to create home office space. I don’t suggest eliminate a bedroom or re-purpose the garage. However, creative ideas all over Pinterest (here’s a link to my Home Office Space board) can help inspire you!
With more people working from home, a vacation or lake home with office space will certainly appeal to today’s buyers.
