Located about 10 miles east of downtown Hawley, near Lackawaxen, you’ll find Fawn Lake Forest in Pike County. Imagine a community with two beautiful lakes, a sandy beach, indoor and outdoor pools, and more. It’s one of Northeastern PA’s better kept secrets!

Fawn Lake is a quiet lake that spans roughly 150 acres, where the gentle glide of sailboats, rowboats, and kayaks prevail. (Electric motors are allowed, but gas powered motors are restricted to Lake Westcolang). It’s a fisherman’s paradise, teeming with pickerel, bass, perch sunfish, and catfish.

The community hub at Fawn Bay Center overlooks Fawn Lake. There are boat docks, tennis & basketball courts, a baseball field, miniature golf, a clubhouse, an indoor swimming pool, indoor & outdoor pickleball courts, and a fitness center. There’s even a banquet hall with a commercial kitchen, spacious sun decks, and a picnic area for those unforgettable summer barbecues. Residents enjoy mix of social gatherings and recreational happenings all year round, planned by the Recreation/Social Department. From an exciting summer picnic to the festive spirit of holiday celebrations, there’s something going on during every season. The annual Independence Day Boat Regatta is the highlight of the year for many.

Lake Westcolang—or Westcolang Pond, depending on which map you’re looking at, is a natural glacial lake 250 acres in size. Gas-powered motor boats and jet-skis are allowed to make waves! Like Fawn Lake, it’s a fishing hotspot. Shared with the neighboring Masthope community and a few other homes on Westcolang Road, it adds a touch of camaraderie and sense of community to the area.

For Fawn Lake Forest residents, Cove Oaks Park on the shore of Lake Westcolang is a slice of paradise. There’s a beautiful pool with a sprinkler, a playground, another spot for picnics & barbecues, a sandy beach, docks, a boat launch, and courts for shuffleboard and handball. There’s even a concession stand (hours vary).

While it might seem like a world away from civilization at first, the charming town of Hawley as well as Lake Wallenpaupack is just a fifteen-minute drive. Honesdale is about thirty-minutes, give or take. Attention snow bunnies! Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain for skiing and snow tubing is only a few minutes down the road.

A full-time maintenance team ensures that facilities and roadways are kept in pristine condition throughout the year. Fawn Lake Forest also has a 24-hour public safety staff. In addition, there’s a volunteer fire department and ambulance service located just outside of the community, ensuring safety and peace of mind for all residents.

Fawn Lake Forest isn’t just affordable; it’s a community brimming with amenities that rival some of its pricier counterparts in the Pike / Wayne County area of the Poconos. The landscape here is alive with rocky terrains and mature woods, home to deer, turkeys, squirrels, and “chippers” (our affectionate term for chipmunks). And if you’re lucky, you might spot a bear or two, along with the majestic blue herons and bald eagles.

Established in 1969 by the American Central Corporation, the Fawn Lake Forest community was created with a vision for a harmoniously governed neighborhood, embedding Restrictive Covenants to guide the use of the land. By spring of 1972, a steering committee alongside various subcommittees sprung to life, setting the stage for the development of the Fawn Lake Forest property owners association.
